Identify state, action and consequence
Ask what was observable before an intervention, what action occurred and what changed afterward. Record timing, units, measurement conditions and uncertainty. A correlation between two events does not establish that one caused the other.
Find the missing context
Hidden interventions, changing equipment and incomplete sensors can make transitions hard to interpret. Document where the record cannot distinguish competing explanations. Avoid claiming a collection can support a particular model without technical evaluation.
Scope a research relationship
A project may require ongoing measurements, domain expertise or bespoke collection. Clarify responsibilities, intellectual property and publication rights before work begins. This is a more demanding collaboration than a simple file transfer and should be evaluated on that basis.
